Installation
Installing EDT consists of the following:
Licensing
The EDT enabled license must be installed. To install:
- Open the Edge.
- Click Help > Check for Updates.
- Check Install updated license and click OK.
Alternatively, you can install the license manually using the file emailed by our Administrative department.
Interactive Mode
EDT normally runs in the background. You must create a shortcut to access its interactive mode to perform setup. To create:
- Navigate to the Edge install folder (default path C:\Program Files (x86)\ajsllc\Edge).
- Locate the file EdgeDataTransferClient.exe, right click on it, and choose Send to > Desktop (Create Shortcut).
- Navigate to the Desktop, find the EdgeDataTransferClient.exe shortcut, then right click and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, add -i to the end of the Target outside of the parenthesis.
- Click OK to save changes.
- For future use, it is suggested you rename this shortcut, e.g. "EDT Interactive."
Installing the Service
The EDT service must be installed. To install:
- Navigate to your Desktop and open the EdgeDataTransferClient interactive shortcut.
- Click on the Configuration tab.
- In the lower right, click the Install Service button. A Command line window will appear stating it is installing. Allow this to complete.
- Verify it installed successfully. It should match this screenshot. If this fails, EDT will not be able to function and you should contact Edge Support for assistance.
Configuration
You must specify a location for the data to upload. This can be a local directory, FTP site, or both. You can specify different upload locations for inventory data and customer data or use the same for both. To configure:
- Navigate to your Desktop and open the EdgeDataTransferClient interactive shortcut.
- On the General tab, enter an email address for EDT error alerts. If entering multiple addresses, separate them with a semicolon.
- Click on the Configuration tab. This controls where inventory data is uploaded.
- The Content and Download Directories are created automatically under the EDT subfolder within C:\ProgramData\ajsllc\Edge. These are used to temporarily store files that are awaiting processing by the EDT service.
- Use the checkboxes to designate whether to Send FTP, Send Local, or check both.
- If uploading to FTP, enter your User Name and Password. Note the FTP Server field is locked and set by your Edge license. To change this, contact our Administrative department to acquire an updated license. Once entered, use the Test FTP Settings button to verify it can connect.
- If uploading to local folder, specify the Local Directory. You can enter the path or use the Browse button to select it.
- By default, images will be uploaded alongside the data files. If you want images uploaded to a separate subfolder specify one in the Image Folder field.
- If also including customer data, click on the Customer tab.
- To upload customer data to the same place specified for inventory, use the Copy From Configuration button. Otherwise, just like in Step 5, specify whether FTP, local, or both and fill in corresponding settings (Server, User Login, Local Directory, etc).
- Click Save & Stay to save your settings.
- Do not upload yet; you must setup export parameters first. See Exporting for more information. You should complete all configuration before doing so.
